Icelandic Language Day

Today is the Icelandic Language Day and this day will be celebrated all over the country and especially in schools. This is the birthday of the poet Jónas Hallgrímsson who was born 199 years ago. In his memory the Jónas Hallgrímsson Award will be given for the 11th time as well as special acknowledgements from the Ministry of Education and Culture. Icelanders should take care to speak correct and good Icelandic today.
