Video: Scientists move burning lava into a pot By Kolbeinn Tumi Daðason 24. september 2014 08:53 Photo/Institut of Earth Sciences Scientists at the Institute of Earth Sciences at the University of Iceland are still very much at work at the lava field Holuhraun north of Vatnajökull. They have released a video which shows them shoving burning hot lava into a pot and cooling it with water. It's thought that the lava's temperature is somewhere between 800°C and 1000°C. After cooling the lava samples are anazlysed. The average flow of lava at Holuhraun is estimated to be between 230 and 350 cubic meters per second. Post by Jarðvísindastofnun Háskólans.
